Monopoly Board Game

Monopoly – the Property Trading Game

One of my favorite board game since young is Monopoly, also known as the “Fast-dealing Property Trading Game”.

Having named “monopoly”, the goal of the game is for the player to exploit as many properties of the same markets (marked by color) and to lead the opponents into bankruptcy. Dealing and trading of the different real estate properties such as houses, hotels and landmarks is also related to how you manage your financial flow.

What I love about this game is its strategic and competitive approach which also depends on luck and decision making. I like the idea of having to negotiate and compromise your wills but at the same time using your own wit to outplay the game. The game never fails to entertain me until this age.

The same concepts apply in the real world. When you can monopolize something, you win and everyone else needs to put money into your pocket.

On a separate note, monopoly can be defined in many way:

“In economics, a monopoly is a single seller. In law, a monopoly is a business entity that has significant market power, that is, the power to charge high prices.” – Wikipedia.
